OTTAWA, Ont. – Operation Red Nose had a successful second weekend.
The service, which offers you a ride home in your own vehicle if you’ve been drinking, had to shut down their phone lines early last weekend due to a lack of volunteers.
However, it was a much better turn out this time around. 115 volunteers showed up, doubling the previous weekend.
“We’re very happy with the response,” said spokesperson Adam Leclerc. “We were able to drive 168 people home safely.”
But Leclerc added they will need even more volunteers as the volume of calls is expected to increase as we inch closer to Christmas and New Year’s.
