Olivia Chow has temporary facial nerve disorder

MP Olivia Chow has announced she is suffering from a temporary facial nerve disorder similar to Bell’s palsy.

The disorder is called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and in Chow’s case was caused by the chicken pox virus.

“I look a little different these days,” the federal politician tweeted on Friday. She added that that aside from some facial weakness, she is otherwise healthy.

It could take weeks or months for Chow to recover.
