Operation Red Nose wraps up successful second season

OTTAWA, Ont. – In its second year of service, Operation Red Nose answered almost 400 calls for a safe ride home this holiday season, with the help of close to 600 volunteers.

The rides were complimentary; however, most people made donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.

“We raised just shy of $11 000 – which is only a little bit less than what we raised last year and running two nights less – it is still a big improvement,” Coordinator Dave Van Vlaanderen told 1310News.  “We are very happy that we can give that money to the Boys and Girls Club.”

He said he is impressed with the success Operation Red Nose has achieved and is hopeful the 2013 program will be even better.
