Ottawa police release RIDE results

OTTAWA, Ont. — Ottawa police stopped more than 6,700 vehicles during the Festive RIDE program last month, charging three people with impaired driving and issuing four “warning range” licence suspensions.

Police say they were happy to see so many designated drivers and taxis going through RIDE checkpoints, adding that it appears the message of “don’t drink and drive” is getting through.

In December of last year, officers charged two people with impaired driving, but handed out 16 suspensions.
