Ottawa, ON – The flags will be at half mast and some students at Algonquin College will be wearing blue on Monday, in honour of murder victim Sheldon O’Grady.
O’Grady, 18, was stabbed outside a nightclub in Gatineau early Saturday morning.
He was a member of the Algonquin Thunder soccer team, and he had planned to try out for the Toronto FC Adademy.
Thunder Head Coach Jimmy Zito tells 1310News that Sheldon was a “really kind guy with a big heart who loved the game of soccer”.
Zito says he was called by the teams captain Saturday morning who told him that “Sheldon had been stabbed in the club, and had bled out in the club.”
“There was an issue with somebody who was in the club, and there was past issues with the same guy”.
Sheldon had attended high school at Hillcrest, St. Patrick’s, and Immaculata.
Gatineau police have arrested and charged Mourad Louati, 18, of Ottawa in connection to his death.
An autopsy will be conducted on O’Grady, Monday in Montreal.
Police have not recovered the murder weapon and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 819 243-2346 ext 6677.
