Byron Ave re-opened after police standoff

OTTAWA, Ont. A police standoff closed a section of Byron Avenue, Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the home between Island Park and Kirkwood at around 2 p.m.

Ottawa police told 1310News they were called to check in on the resident, who was barricaded inside an apartment.

Police entered the unit, and the man inside was taken to see a doctor. No weapons were involved and there was no danger to the rest of the neighbourhood.

Byron Avenue has fully re-opened between Hilson and Kensington Avenues.
