Victoria Day fireworks in Ottawa

OTTAWA, Ont. – Victoria Day fireworks were set off Sunday night in Ottawa. The Tulip Festival launched “Lake of Fire” fireworks over Dow’s Lake at 9 p.m.

The display marked the end of the annual springtime celebration, but there will still be some bike tours on Monday at Tulip Plaza in front of City Hall.

Meantime, the City of Ottawa is reminding anyone planning use fireworks over the long weekend to comply with the city’s by-law.

Ottawa Fire services also wants to keep people aware of the increased fire risk due to recent warm and dry weather and to use caution when using any other kind of ignition source, such as candles or barbeques.
