Three Ottawa paramedics get bravery medals

OTTAWA – The Governor General awarded three Ottawa paramedics with Medals of Bravery, in a ceremony at Rideau Hall, Friday.
Paramedics Craig MacInnes, Patricia St. Denis and Amanda Walkowiak were honoured for their efforts in trying to save the late Cst. Eric Czapnik.
Gov. Gen. David Johnston told the crowd, he was inspired by their actions.
“Ours is a compassionate society, where people care for those who need a helping hand,” Johnston told the audience. “That sense of caring finds, perhaps, its fullest and most vivid expression when one risks their own safety and well-being to help another person.”
The Governor General handed out 47 decorations for bravery to people who risked their lives while trying to protect others.
