Layoffs at IBM

OTTAWA – About 200 people have lost their jobs at IBM in Ottawa. There are reports it was the third day of layoffs at IBM’s Riverside Drive location, but the company refused to provide details about the job cuts.

Employees say the number of people being let go by IBM could be more than 200.

As the terminated employees left IBM for the last time, Ottawa tech darling Shopify set up an impromptu recruiting booth in front of the IBM building.

The Byward Market firm is looking to add about 50 people to its workforce of 200.
