Ottawa Catholic School Board approves budget

OTTAWA, Ont. – The proposed operating budget for the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s 2013-2014 school year has been approved.

The $441 million budget covers the continued implementation of full-day Kindergarten, the expansion of French Immersion and the further integration of technology in schools.

The budget will also cover required spending for new elementary schools in South Nepean and Cumberland.

The budget was approved despite declining enrolment and pressure to cut costs. The board credits proactive cuts implemented over the last several years, sharing initiatives with other boards and government agencies and pursuing external funding and grants.
