Man facing charges after police standoff

GATINEAU – A 62-year-old Gatineau man is facing firearm and domestic violence charges after an armed standoff with police ended peacefully on Saturday.

Police say no shots were fired, but they were called to Carle St. just north of the Tecumseh Golf Club just after 10 p.m.

Police said the man was armed with a gun and was threatening to kill his wife, who managed to escape and call 911.

Officers surrounded the home and after negotiating with police, the man surrendered.
