Ottawa under special weather statement

OTTAWA – It’s set to be a very soggy day in the capital.

Ottawa, Gatineau, Prescott and Russell, and Cornwall are under a special weather statement from Environment Canada.

We could see up to 25 millimetres of rain.

There is some good news; much of the wet weather is expected to stay just outside the city.

“I’ve got showers in the forecast rather than the steadier rain,” said 1310 meteorologist Jill Taylor. “The steadier rain should stay just to the south and east of Ottawa.”

For the rest of the long weekend, Jill is forecasting a good amount of sun, with rain possibly returning Monday.
