Walmart worker fired after confronting pet owner about dog left in hot truck

KEMPTVILLE – A Walmart employees concern for an animal has landed her in the unemployment line.
Carla Cheney of Winchester worked as a pharmacy technician at the Kemptville Walmart when she confronted a customer who had left a dog inside a truck on a hot day with the windows rolled up.
Cheney said she was called into the office and fired on the spot.
Walmart Canada responded by saying the Kemptville store will be reminded about protocols in place for any worker concerned about danger to pets.
Cheney is also concerned the incident sends a message to other employees who see a person or animal in danger to keep quiet.
