OTTAWA, On. — 27-year-old Brandon Gaul will spend six years behind bars for a drunk driving crash that killed one of his friends and injured two others.
Gaul was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to drunk driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
The fatal crash happened on Halloween night in 2009 when Gaul got behind the wheel after partying at a Gatineau bar.
He lost control of the car on Island Park Dr., smashed into a tree, and flipped over.
21-year-old Andrew Downy was killed in the crash.
Gaul and two of his roommates were also in the car and suffered serious injuries, but survived.
