Calypso water park facing 20 safety charges

OTTAWA – The province’s safety regulator has filed 20 charges against Calypso water park, east of Ottawa, after a year-long investigation into complaints and media reports of safety issues and serious injuries.
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority began investigating a year ago, after multiple incidents that resulted in serious injuries.
The charges accuse Calypso of operating slides in an unsafe manner, not having enough staff and not properly training the operators they did have.
The 20 charges haven’t been proven in court, but if found guilty Calypso could receive fines of up to $1 million, per charge.
