OTTAWA – As the world learns of the birth of William and Catherine’s son, excitement and congratulations are coming from all over.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement, “Canadians are delighted to learn of the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son, and we offer our heartfelt congratulations to the Royal Couple and the entire Royal Family.”
The Governor General was one of the first to be informed of the royal birth.
“May the years to come with this child be filled with love and pride for all members of the Royal Family,” Gov. Gen. David Johnston said in a news release.
The NCC announced that to celebrate the birth, Centre Block would be illuminated in blue, Monday night, before and after Mosaika, the nightly sound and light show on Parliament Hill.
Also, Niagara Falls will be coloured blue in honour of the royal birth for the next two evenings.
