6 teens dead after crash in Saskatchewan

A fatal crash in Saskatchewan claimed the lives of six teenagers Saturday.
Three females and three males ranging between 13 and 17 years old were killed in the crash involving a car and a tanker truck south of Lloydminster.
Five of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene while one escaped the car, but later died in hospital.
Emergency crews received the call early Saturday morning initially thought it was for a semi rollover, but when they arrived they found the crash was much worse.
“Once they arrived on scene, they determined that it was actually a collision between a semi-tanker truck that was hauling crude oil and a four-door small passenger car,” Corporal Rob King said.
Both vehicles ended up in a pond with the car completely submerged.
King said it will take a while to determine exactly what happened.
“It’ll take some time for him to analyze the evidence gathered at the scene yesterday – all the measurements, all the photographs, to determine what may have happened at that collision scene,” explained King.
The names of the victims have not been released, pending the families’ decision.
Victim services will be available to the families and first responders.
The driver of the truck is in hospital, but there’s no word on his condition.
