VIDEO: Pineview Golf Course sustains storm damage

OTTAWA, On –  Clean up crews will be busy for at least the next three days at Pineview Golf Course after a violent thunderstorm hit Ottawa’s east end on Monday.

“It was the end of the day. It was about 5:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. mark,” superintendent Guy Vaillancourt told 1310News. “Luckily no one was hurt. Golfers were on the back nine at that point. Apparently a couple of golfers saw trees fall but they were out of the way.  Nobody was on the front nine at that point.”

Vaillancourt said at least 20 massive willows and pines came down on tee boxes.

“We have ten staff right now trying to clean up as best we can for golfers to keep playing,” he said. “That’s our main priority.”

Pineview is open, but carts won’t be available for those on the executive course.
