Visitation, funeral for Melissa Richmond; police continue hunt for killer

OTTAWA – Friends and family will say their final goodbyes to Melissa Richmond over the weekend, as police continue to look for a suspect in her murder.

Police are looking through the Winchester women’s computer and cell phone, as well as her husband Howard’s cellphone.

The popular, vibrant 28-year-old was last seen by her husband last Wednesday evening before she went for a drive. Her vehicle was found in the South Keys parking lot Friday night.

Her body was discovered Sunday morning in a ravine near where her car was found; an autopsy confirmed she had been stabbed several times.

On Tuesday afternoon, OPP officers were seen combing farmers’ fields near Chesterville, about 10 minutes from the home Melissa shared with her husband Howard.

Police would only say it was part of an “ongoing investigation,” but not if the investigation was tied to Melissa’s murder.
