Three city workers honoured for bravery

OTTAWA – Three brave Ottawa Public Works employees, were honoured Thursday at the Community and Protective Services Committee meeting for their heroic actions during a September fire in Stittsville.

The three, who are also volunteer firefighters, assisted a woman to safety as fire engulfed a 140-year-old building, leaving $500,000 in damage.

As thick black smoke poured from doors and windows, Brian Danson, Rob Hartnett, and Paul Lamothe entered the building to search for anyone inside.

They located a woman who was asleep in an upper unit and rushed her to safety just as Ottawa Fire personnel arrived on-scene and took over from there.
