BlackBerry announces layoffs

BlackBerry has laid off 120 employees at its product and wireless technology divisions in Waterloo, ON.
The move is part of the company’s plan announced last year to lower expenses, partly through workforce reductions.
According to the statement, the layoffs were part of a 40% workforce reduction announced in September 2013, with the reduction period ending in May 2014.
BlackBerry’s latest round of layoffs come before it was due to announce year-end and fourth quarter earnings on March 28.
