Kitchen fire in Centretown sends one to hospital

OTTAWA – One person is homeless following a kitchen fire in an apartment building in Centretown early Friday morning.
Ottawa fire crews were called to 175 Bronson Ave., near Laurier Avenue shortly before 1 a.m., and found heavy smoke in a second floor hallway.
The lone occupant of the unit were being treated for smoke inhalation in hospital.
The fire was caused by cooking oil that was left on the stove and the damages, which were contained to the one unit, are estimated to be $60,000.
