Business as usual at Alta Vista area schools following lockdown

OTTAWA – It’s business as usual for Alta Vista area schools after a gun scare led to multiple schools going into lockdown Thursday.

The all-clear has been given in Alta Vista, after a gun scare led to multiple schools going into lockdown.

Police were called just before 2 p.m., after a student reported seeing a teenaged boy possibly carrying a gun.

Charles H. Hulse Public School was on lockdown for an hour and a half while police performed a grid search on the ground and in the air. No gunman was found and the all clear was given just before 3:30 p.m.

Ridgemont High, Featherston Drive Public School and Alta Vista Public School were also locked sown for a short time.

Friday’s exam schedule is unchanged and students are expected to write them as planned.

Police continue to investigate.
