Highway 417 fully re-opens earlier than expected

OTTAWA — Highway 417 has reopened all lanes to traffic earlier than expected from Metcalfe Street to the Vanier Parkway and Westbound from the Vanier Parkway to Nicholas Street.

The lane closure had been put in place in order to remove the Lees Avenue Bridge.

The Lees Avenue road will remain fully closed from Chapel Crescent to the Transitway until September.

Vehicular traffic will be diverted to Main Street and Greenfield Avenue, while pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured along the Rideau River multi-use pathway via Robinson Avenue.

The closure allows for construction work to replace the overpass over Highway 417, as well as sewer and road rehabilitation.
