Man shot in legs in Ottawa, fourth time in less than a month

OTTAWA – A man shot in the legs in Ottawa’s west end is believed to have gang ties.

Police confirm a young man was shot in the lower left leg just after 3 p.m. Monday on Ritchie Street, the fourth time a person has been shot in the legs in less than a month.

However, police do not believe this shooting is related to three previous incidents in the past month.

Police said the victim, who called 911 himself, is not cooperating with its Guns and Gangs Unit detectives, but said the shooting is believed to be gang-related.

The man’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The shooting is the city’s 21st of the year.
