Suspect in convenience store robberies faces charges

OTTAWA — A 25-year-old Ottawa man has been charged in connection to a string of convenience store robberies over the last month.
Ottawa Police have charged Desmond Manolakos after he allegedly robbed convenience stores on five separate occasions between June 24th and July 16th.
In each case, he demanded money and cigarettes.
In one case, Manolakos allegedly knocked a person unconscious while robbing a store on Tompkins Avenue, before fleeing the premises with cigarettes and cash, leaving the victim unconscious on the floor.
He also tied up a clerk at a store in another robbery on Tapiola Crescent.
He’s also targeted the same Moodie Dr. outlet three times; June 24, July 3 and July 13.
He’s been charged with five counts of robbery and wearing a disguise, and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
Manolakos is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
