Prisoner caught after five days on the lam

QUEBEC – A convict who escaped from a minimum-security prison near Montreal has been caught.

Robert Gaudette was arrested without incident Sunday evening on a downtown Quebec City sidewalk.

The 55-year-old escaped last Tuesday, with sources saying he hopped out of a window in his room.

Gaudette had been behind bars since receiving a life sentence in 2002 for the second-degree murder of his wife, Cindy Bouchard.

He was set to have a parole hearing soon.
