Disabled Ottawa man has his van stolen

OTTAWA – Thieves have stolen an adapted minivan owned by a disabled Ottawa comic.

Michael Lifshitz his 2009 Toyota Sienna minivan, which is worth about $70,000, was stolen last Wednesday when he in the Bank and Lisgar Street area.

Lifshitz, 38, says he has sunk $30,000 of his own cash into outfitting the vehicle to meet his mobility needs.

He tells the Metro he uses the van for day tasks like getting groceries, travelling to comedy gigs and motivational speaking events.

The van has a bumper sticker with a picture of a golfer and the words “and you thought your handicap messed up your game.”
