OPP on the hunt for distracted drivers

OTTAWA — It’s the last long weekend of the summer, and as many of us hit the road, so does the OPP — who want to make sure you leave your phone in your pocket.

Provincial police say in addition to the regular long weekend patrol, ten unmarked vehicles will be deployed on Ontario’s roads to nab distracted drivers.

So far this year, 35 people have been killed in motor vehicle collisions in which distracted driving was a contributing factor, on OPP-patrolled roads.
