Petawawa standoff ends peacefully

PETAWAWA — The Ontario Provincial Police has reported that a 36-hour standoff in Petawawa ended peacefully on Saturday.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP say in a release that a man, 44, surrendered to police at 12:25 p.m. Saturday and was transported to hospital.

No one was injured in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

The incident began Thursday night, when police responded to a call on Labine Crescent in Petawawa.

It was reported that an armed man had barricaded himself inside a home.
