OTTAWA – Police are continuing their patrol of school zones, after close to 80 tickets were handed out Wednesday in the east end.
It’s the first week of school and officers are out reminding motorists to slow down and follow the rules in school zones.
In Orleans Wednesday, 77 tickets were issued in a three hour span for speeding, stop sign violations and other traffic offences, and they are back at Thursday.
You’re reminded that when a school bus stops and activates its flashing red lights, all vehicles travelling behind or approaching the bus must stop until the lights are turned off.
Failing to do so carries a fine of up to $2,000 and six demerit points for a first offence.
