Power restored after Friday storm

OTTAWA — Power has been completely restored after a powerful storm ripped through eastern Ontario and western Quebec Friday.

Hydro Quebec, Hydro Ottawa and Hydro One all reported no outages in the region on their websites Sunday.

 

At the height of the outages, about 46,000 hydro customers in Ottawa and the Outaouais were without power.

In Ottawa, a number of residential streets reported flooding Friday night while fire crews responded to over 100 storm-related calls including car accidents, alarms, fallen trees, snapped hydro lines and a water rescue.

 

 

There were no serious injuries reported.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Ottawa-Gatineau on Friday afternoon as a line of storms moved east across southern Ontario and then lifted early Friday evening. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued and lifted late Friday night.
