National Art Centre workers vote to strike

OTTAWA – Workers at the National Art Centre have voted in favour of striking.
The 70 unionized workers with the Public Service Alliance of Canada provide maintenance, cleaning, security and parking at the venue.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the union said it has been attempting to reach a fair contract with the NAC since December of 2011.
According to the president of the union, the NAC does not give its workers fair compensation, leaving the workers with no choice but to vote for a strike.
The union voted to strike Sept. 5 and a strike date has not been set.
Upcoming performances at the NAC include Lewis Black on Sept. 11 and Jann Arden on Sept 25.
