Police lay over 400 charges in weekend blitz

OTTAWA — Over 400 fines and criminal charges were laid over the weekend by Ottawa police and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The ByWard Market, Lowertown, Vanier, Sandy Hill, the Glebe and Centertown were patrolled in connection with a nuisance enforcement project.
The project was designed to address disturbances, noise, public intoxication, drug use, aggressive driving and property damage in the downtown core.
Charges laid include theft, fraud, drug infractions and breach of bail conditions.
Two people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Licenced bars and restaurants were also inspected as part of the blitz.
