Uber drivers planning a protest in U.S.

Amidst the controversy surrounding Uber in Ottawa, there is plenty of uproar south of the border.
The ride sharing app-service debuted in the nation’s capital last Wednesday, and was denounced as an illegal taxi firm by City officials.
The city then promptly targeted Uber drivers over the weekend, fining two of them $650 each in an undercover operation.
Meanwhile in the United States, a large protest is being planned at Uber offices in Los Angeles on October 22.
Uber drivers are protesting the lowering of fare costs and Uber’s increases in its own commission.
Journalist for Buzzfeed.com, Johana Bhuiyan tells 1310News, Uber also discourages gratuities:
“Uber has a policy that encourages its passengers not to tip their drivers.”
“Their issue right now is that these drivers are not being able to bring in a livable income because of these discounts.”
It’s unclear how many will appear to protest, however a network of 1,923 Uber drivers in San Francisco are among the movement.
Uber is currently available in 45 countries worldwide.
