Police offer $5K reward for information into Justin Rutter disappearance

OTTAWA – Police have announced a $5,000 reward for information into the disappearance of Justin Rutter five years ago.

During a media briefing at police headquarters Wednesday, police said a recent tip suggests Justin may be in the Vancouver area. The tip hasn’t yet been confirmed by investigators, but they will be working with Vancouver Police to follow up.

Police still hold out hope that Justin can be found safe, but admit that after five years he may have met with foul play or have been killed in an accident or mishap.

Description at time of disappearance:

  • 5’4″ tall
  • 110 lbs.
  • slim build
  • short light-brown hair
  • brown eyes
  • wearing a light brown/white hoodie

“Although Ottawa Police received close to 50 tips on Justin’s whereabouts over the past five years, none have been confirmed by police,” said Ottawa Police Criminal Investigations Directorate Supt. Don Sweet. “We are releasing an artist’s rendering of an age progression sketch of what Justin could look like, now at age 19.”

Rutter was last seen by his family in Lowertown when he was 14-years-old; he would now be 19.
