OTTAWA – Only two groups submitted bids to the NCC for the redevelopment of Lebreton Flats and both submissions included plans to build a NHL-calibre arena.
RendezVous Lebreton Group is hoping to build a new NHL arena for the Ottawa Senators. The group includes the company that owns the hockey club, Senators Sports & Entertainment.
The DCDLS Group (formerly Devcore Group) is also proposing a NHL style rink, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. DCDLS was originally planning to house the headquarters of an international institution, accompanied by cultural venues.
Four groups were originally invited to submit a detailed plan for the land. It is not clear why Focus Equities and Claridge Homes failed to make bids.
More details will be released during public consultations January 27 and 28 at the Canadian War Museum, and the winning bid is expected to be announced in early 2017.
