Man arrested after December convenience store robbery

OTTAWA — Police have charged a suspect in a convenience store robbery early last month.

On December 11, 2015, a man walked into a convenience store on Baseline Road and made a demand for cash.

The man claimed to have a handgun, although none was seen.

Police said the suspect struck a store employee with a telephone before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber was seen fleeing with a second suspect who waited outside the store.

Majid Abdulkhaliq, 20, is charged with robbery and wearing a disguise.

He will appear in court January 25.
