Building evacuated over carbon monoxide scare

OTTAWA – A building in the west end was evacuated Wednesday over carbon monoxide detected inside.
Just before 5 p.m., fire crews were called to 2716 Richmond Rd., near Carling, after the building manager reported carbon monoxide detectors going off.
Firefighters discovered readings of up to 75ppm on the lower level of the building, and all 80 occupants were evacuated.
It turned out, a company had both a vehicle and a propane-fired hot water cleaner running while cleaning the building’s garage floor.
That was determined to be the source of the carbon monoxide in the building.
There were no injuries reported.
