Shoplifting call leads to robbery charges

OTTAWA — A shoplifting call has led to charges being laid in a robbery on McCarthy Road that saw an armed man make off with cash and cigarettes.

The robbery happened January 13 at a convenience store along the 3300 block of McCarthy.

A man waited for a customer to leave and then approached the clerk with a knife.

Two days later, police were called to shoplifting complaint at a grocery store in the same area.

A man was arrested, and linked to the convenience store robbery.

Aiden Scott, 22, of Ottawa, is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, and theft under $5000.
