Elementary school placed in ‘hold & secure’ after nearby bank robbery

OTTAWA – St. Gemma Catholic Elementary School was placed in a ‘hold and secure’ mode late Friday morning after a bank robbery in the Alta Vista area.

Ottawa Police alerted school officials of the robbery at a TD Bank on Kilborn Avenue, just a block away from the school on McMaster Avenue. As a precaution, the school kept its students inside for lunchtime recess.

The ‘hole and secure’ mode was lifted after a couple hours.

Parents were notified of the situation as it happened.
