Rideau Canal Skateway reopens; conditions poor due to snow cover

OTTAWA – A portion of the Rideau Canal Skateway has reopened.

The Skateway is open from Rideau Street to the Bank St. Bridge, including Patterson Creek, and from the Bronson Avenue Bridge to Dows Lake and the Hartwell Locks.

Only the 1.1km section of ice between Bank Street and Bronson Avenue remains closed. Click here for updated conditions.

The weather is looking good for the canal this week with much colder temperatures in the forecast. The cold temperatures are expected to continue into the weekend with 1310 NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor calling for a high around -20C on Saturday.
