Frostbite advisory Thursday morning

OTTAWA – Plummeting temperatures in the capital after a massive snowfall prompted a Frostbite Advisory, Thursday morning.

Wind chill values dropped below -20C, Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Ottawa Public Health advises residents to bundle up, stay warm and dry, and cover all exposed skin when outdoors.

Health officials say to watch out for the 4 “P”s of frostbite: Pink or reddish skin, Pain where affected areas are reddish in colour, Patches of white or waxy feeling areas on the skin – an indication skin is dying, and Pricklies when skin feels numb.
