Man charged with second degree murder in Overbrook stabbing

OTTAWA – A man has been charged in Ottawa’s third murder of the year.

Michael Leblanc, 26, was arrested at his home on Tuesday. He is charged with second degree murder after a young man was stabbed to death in Overbrook on Monday night.

Police and emergency crews were called to King George Street near Lawson Park at around 9 p.m., where police believe an altercation led to the stabbing.

Mohamed Ali Hassan, 19, was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police closed off several streets in the area, Tuesday morning, as they investigated the murder.
