Ottawa Senators shut down centre Kyle Turris due to ankle sprain

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators have shut down centre Kyle Turris indefinitely due to a high ankle sprain.

Senators general manager Bryan Murray made the announcement Monday morning prior to the start of practice.

Turris played 57 games this season and finished the season with 13 goals and 30 points.

The 26-year-old missed nearly three weeks with an undisclosed injury from Jan. 19-Feb. 5, but upon his return it was clear he was still dealing with an injury.

The Senators top centre was injured Dec. 5 in a game against the New York Islanders when he appeared to hurt his right leg when he got tangled with Casey Cizikas.

Turris continued to play but struggled, going 25 games without scoring a goal and 14 games without collecting a point.
