OTTAWA – A disgraced Ottawa police officer has given up his appeal and resigned from the police service.
Rohan Beebakhee, a veteran officer with more than 25 years on the force, was found guilty of six internal charges in 2014, including insubordination, corrupt practices and deceit.
Beebakhee had been accused of meeting with sex trade workers while in uniform and of conducting searches of the Ottawa Police service data base, violating the rights of more than 80 people.
He had been receiving a paycheque since his suspension in 2012.
In June of 2015, Beebakhee was ordered to resign or be fired, which he was appealing, but he dropped his appeal in February.
