Man suffers life threatening injury while working with chainsaw

OTTAWA — A 26-year-old man was air-lifted to hospital after a workplace accident in Cumberland Thursday morning.

Paramedics were called to Sharkey Crescent just after 10:30 Thursday morning.

The man, who was working for a tree service, suffered a life-threatening laceration to one arm after the chainsaw he was using kicked backed.

He was seven metres up in a bucket lift at the time of the incident.

His co-workers lowered him to the ground, and made a tourniquet from one of their t-shirts.

The man was airlifted from scene by an ORNGE helicopter.

He was listed in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been notified of the incident.
