OTTAWA — Thursday is Tragically Hip Day in Ottawa.
Mayor Jim Watson made the declaration to honour the band who are in the city playing their final concert in the city as part of their farewell tour.
The declaration states the Tragically Hip has been one of Canada’s pre-eminent rock bands creating some of the most enduring and iconic songs for our country.

The Hip began their cross-Canada tour in July in Victoria and end it Saturday in their home town of Kingston.
For fans, this is likely their final goodbye, since the shocking revelation in the spring that lead singer Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
The show is sold out, but you still have a chance to buy tickets through the band’s lottery.
