OTTAWA – It now cost more to get your licence plate sticker.

As of Thursday, the price of your plate sticker costs $120, up from $108.

That’s an increase of 62 per cent since 2011. Just five years ago, motorists were paying $74 to renew their plates.

The Ministry of Transportation says on their website, the increases in sticker prices help support the maintenance of provincial roads, highways and bridges.

They point out that even with increases, Ontario drivers are still paying lower fees than many other provinces.
