Charges laid after man approached police with stab wound

OTTAWA — Charges have been laid, after a man approached police officers and told them he’d been stabbed.

On September 8, at approximately 10:40 p.m., plainclothes officers were involved in an unrelated investigation in the area of the 300 block of Murray Street, when they were approached by a man who told them that he had been stabbed.

A short time later, a call came in from a person reporting he’d been robbed at gunpoint by three suspects, and that he had stabbed one of them.

The victim of the stabbing was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital in stable condition.

The victim of the robbery was arrested at the scene in relation to the stabbing, but has since been released without charge.

The hospitalized man has been arrested in relation to the robbery.

James Shema, 19, of Ottawa, has been charged with the following offences:

Robbery
Pointing a firearm
Carrying a concealed weapon
Possession of a weapon
The investigation is ongoing, and police are still looking to two other suspects in connection to the robbery.

No description is available, other than the suspects being black males, 17-21 years of age.
